In Smyrna, in Cobb County, there is a covered bridge, which right beside it there is the "witches graveyard" check there. its for real. YES! Have you heard of Cabbage Patch Dolls? If not they were the HOT must have Christmas gift a decade or so ago. Grown women were yanking them out of the hands of small children in department stores, the kids were SCREAMING ,and crying, chaos ensued, it got really ugly! Anyway, the Cabbage Patch Dolls (CPDs) were manufactured (birthed) in a "hospital" in Cleveland, Ga., about one and a half hours north of Atlanta. This hospital/ birthing center became a tourist attraction. The staff ran around in scrubs complete with surgical masks hanging around their necks. The whole place was strange, but the most bizaare thing about it was the cabbage patch. It was a garden populated entirely with cotton sculpted cabbage leaves. in the center, where the cabbage heads should have been, was a CPD head instead! It was creepy! If I had been a little kid I would have had nightmares. Several times a day (hourly?) tourists would gather in a delivery room, where with much drama, sheet, towels etc. the newest CPD was 'born". Next the pseudo delivery nurse would ask the audience for names, and in short order (10 minutes?) that CPD was ready for "adoption" --for a chunky fee. As the CPD fad started to wane, unadopted CPDs started accumulating. Then the unthinkable happened. Local citizens began turning up decapitated CPD bodies, just a few , at first. On his regular rounds the garbage collector uncovered a 50 gallon bag full of squashy little CPD bodies, some with heads, some without. When authorities entered the hospital they were met with unbearable carnage. Cabbage doll heads smashed inside the cabbage garden, none was spared. Fluff and batting was on the floor, walls, ceilings everywhere. A wealthy influential citizen was able to keep the news of the CPD massacre out of the media, but he was powerless to do anything about what happened next. The whole town started seeing transparant CPD apparitions in trees, in traffic lights, just everywhere. CPD spirits floated throuthout the area accompanied by the aroma of rotting cabbage. The olfactory assault was almost worse than the spectres themselves, since it hung in the air and permeating every surface. I left the area, thankfully, shortly after, but they are still there, many of them. If you want to check it out for yourself. |
