How r these atlanta areas? |
Travel Info lithonia, college park, decauter lawrenceville and what would be the best to move to? Travel Tips Where is your husbands job going to be? Depending on that makes a big difference on where you will want to live. All those areas are around Atlanta. Each has everything you will want close by. Places like Lawerenceville are very far out and will make for a terrible communte into the city. Again, all are nice areas though. Others There are a number of Wal-Marts in the Atlanta area. The cities which you asked about are quite spread out. It would have helped if you told us why you are going to Atlanta. I would rank them in order of preferable 1. Lawrenceville, 2. Lithonia, 3. Decatur, and 4. College Park, but I would not recommend either Decatur or College Park. i lived in College Park for 9 months after katrina, i didn't live in the more populated urban part, i lived right on the edge of college park right near camp crek market place. like i said college park is more urban, and the closest wal mart we went to was the one down camp creek parkway in Lithonia, its a good little drive, but like i said it probaly was the closest, i hove no idea whats in the area now but they were building alot of new stuff over at the marketplace (which is a cute shopping area with a Target and all that) i've never been to decater or lawrenceville so i couldn't help you on that but i know all those areas are not close together so it depends on where your husbands job is. they have a lot of little "development" houseing areas you know the stanard uppermiddle class to highclass area house neiborhoods, in the camp creek area towards lithonia Lithonia is kind of a new area. There is a lot of construction going on there. Traffic is bad. But they do have a rather nice mall and a superwalmart. The people are pretty friendly too. Decatur is OK. Its inside the perimeter, so traffic is kinda bad. Safe to walk around in the daytime. Close to the VA hospital. Mall is not far away. If you know where you want to live the police departments can give you crime stats. They just need the apartment or street name. Good Luck Your question and additional information didn't specify where your husband will work. Lawrenceville and College Park are on opposite sides of the Atlanta metro area. It could take someone up to 1.5-2 hours to navigate between those places during rush hour. So the first question is, where will your husband be working? That should be a big factor for you. And do you have school-age children? I doubt that the schools in College Park are very good. Lithonia probably has some good and bad schools; south DeKalb in general isn't too good. Gwinnett has the largest school system in the state, and most of their schools are pretty good. Decatur schools are great (they have their own tiny school district with just a few schools feeding into one high school), but taxes are very high. I gather from your "picture" on your avatar that you might be African-American. It's worth commenting that Lithonia is the epicenter of the professional African-American suburbs on the east side of town. Lithonia and Stone Mountain are both majority African-American areas these days. There are a lot of beautiful subdivisions with almost 100% black populations. Some people are drawn to that while others aren't. Lawrenceville is much whiter, though it's rapidly diversifying. Decatur and College Park are racially mixed though College Park has a much larger African-American population. Also College Park is going through a rapid transformation due to investment, redevelopment, etc. It's becoming a much nicer place in terms of quality of life. The major big-box stores are well represented throughout the metro area. Wal-Mart has some stores inside the Perimeter now. Target has a lot of stores too. Traffic is terrible in Atlanta so I would encourage you to look in areas close to your husband's workplace, or at least on the same side of the city. And if you're looking for a job, you might want to make location a factor as well. Lawrenceville |
