Moving to atlanta...what are some good parts? |
Travel Info I'll be 19 when i move about next summer. where's the safest to stay? Travel Tips I am also a gay male. Depending on what your price range is there are many options. If there are three of you, you can stay in a wide variety of places. Atlanta is very diverse not matter what part you live in. I live in Dunwoody. It is in North Atlanta. It is a great spot. Very nice part of town, little expensive but worth it. You are close to shopping and have easy access to all of Atlanta. I am about 12 miles from downtown. I love this area. Midtown is a great area too. It has a large gay population and is very happening. It is also on the pricey side. I spend a lot of time in Midtown. That is where a lot of the gay clubs are, great restaurants, Piedmont Park and tons to do. Buckhead is also very nice. Very hip and trendy. It is south of Dunwoody and about 6 miles from Downtown. Great shopping, bars (straight ones), restaurants etc.. Areas I would hesitate about living in. Think twice about Gwinnett. Gwinnett is very nice, very affordable, but traffic is horrendous getting in and out. Doraville is not very nice. Stay out of the Westend and Bankhead areas. Downtown can be nice or bad, have to be careful. I would assume you are coming to Atlanta for College. Perhaps Georgia Tech or GSU? GT is in Midtown and GSU is downtown. Really in all honesty, if you can afford it I would choose Midtown. It is right where you want to be and in the middle of the city. Especially if you don't have a car. Everything is right there. The only reason I don't live in Midtown is because I also work in Dunwoody. I have two dogs. I don't like to commute and I like to be able to come home for lunch to walk them. If you have any questions or want to be friends, I'm a lil older than you, im 27 (not hitting on you, im involved, lol), please feel free to email me. You will love Atlanta. It is a great city! Others buck head very nice apartments, you can probably get a 3 bed for 600 a month. They are glamorous, i mean balcony, nice structure, great views, pools, fitness centers, pool tables sometimes, get to together areas with great plasmas, comforting Atlanta is the bomb!!! Buckhead is good for single people. Buckhead is really nice but $$$$$$. Douglasville is 20 min west of Atl and is a nice town it has mall and is beside Six Flags. Midtown. Virginia Highlands. Candler Park. I'd avoid Buckhead -- unless you want a yuppie environment. well you will have fun lol Smyrna/Vinings(Inside Perimeter) Kennesaw(20-30 minutes from Midtown/Downtown) Canton(40-50 minutes from Midtown/Downtown) Outside the perimeter you can get more for your money in terms of rent and apartment space. If you want crime stats and have some apts or areas in mind the police departments can give you all that and kind of tell you which areas to avoid. They helped me a bunch when I was moving. Out here you really have to choose where you live carefully. Good Luck. |
