Local Suggestions: Looking to move from McDonough to Dunwoody/Sandy Springs? |
Travel Info I currently live on the southside in McDonough, and I would like to move into the city. I really like the Dunwoody / Sandy Springs area because of its accessibilty to MARTA, and the nightlife scene is very good. Its a very attractive area that I wouldn't mind living in. How are the property taxes in Fulton and DeKalb? Are there any reasonably priced condos or loft apartments in the are (like 200, 000 and under). I have not had time to talk to a realtor or even to make the trek up there lately. I would like inputs and answers to determine whether or not I should settle there or somewhere else. Thanks for your answers! I need HELP! Travel Tips I grew up in the Dunwoody area and it is very nice. The property taxes are higher in Fulton County versus DeKalb, so that is something to consider. Most of Dunwoody is in DeKalb, with a portion in Fulton and all of Sandy Springs is in Fulton. I have no idea what the condo real estate market there is like (although I think most of the Dunwoody condos are going to be in Fulton County), but I know there are a cluster of them around the Northridge area, which is the border of Dunwoody and Sandy Springs. It's conveniently located to Roswell Road and 400 - - traffic can be bad, but you are close to shops, restaurants and a direct route to Buckhead or downtown, or even very close to the Hooch. (Chattahoochee River). I believe there may be some loft type condos around Perimeter Mall - - but I think you're going to be getting fairly pricy there. There are also some beautiful townhomes on Chamblee-Dunwoody, by the Mt. Vernon Road intersection, but I would think they are pretty far out of your price range. You will find that Dunwoody is expensive - -more so than Sandy Springs. As far as whether you should settle in the Dunwoody/Sandy Springs area, I would guess it depends on where you work and what you think of the area. The best thing is probably to take a drive through the area one day, see what you think and maybe look up some properties on realtor.com - - also figure in where you work and what type of commute you'd be looking at. When I used to live there, traffic on 400 was your basic nightmare, more than an hour to go 10 miles - - but if you can take side roads or you don't have far to go, it might be worth the drive time. Good luck! Others There are some condos located in the Atlanta area that currently being remodeled. Thre are a few condos available. you can try going to to newdaycondos.com to view more info. www.newdaycondos.com |
