Savannah, GA? |
Travel Info I'm thinking about moving there, is it a pretty good place to live? I've lived in alabama for about 25 years. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Travel Tips Savannah is a great little city, town! The architecture is beautiful, a cross between the Netherlands and Charleston, S.C. There are 2 Colleges in the area, Armstrong and SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design). The Downtown area is filled with art and artist of every kind. The Independent Film that comes from SCAD is gaining popularity, they have a whole week of festival for this event and even Hollywood gets on board when it is going on. Tybee Island is Different/A public beach where an old Fort is located, not the prettiest beach. I like Savannah's public beach for swimming and they have a Pier there. I live in Augusta Ga. and travel to Savannah quite a bit. I'd say the cost of living in Downtown is more than in Augusta Downtown. River Street is full of restaurants as well as clothing shops and a pretty big bar scene, if you are into that. The people are friendly and inviting. I love it! Source(s): Been there Done it! Other Travel Tips I have only passed through and visited SAVANNAH which is a great choice and a beautiful city! My only advice is don't quit your job and move until you have secured a replacement job in writing and know your salary and starting date. To do otherwise, would only make matters worse. Believe me, from one who has been unemployed before like 4 months after I left the miltary, life without a job or no cash flow coming in and just waiting for the phone to ring hoping for interviews is definitely the PITS. It's even worse if you have a spouse and/or kids, bec if you don't get a job that pays an equivalent salary quickly then all H.LL will break loose as your life will hit rock bottom and by then you would have wished you had listened and stayed where you were despite whatever unhappiness or change you were so desperately looking for! If you are not able to secure an interview via emailing your resume and via the web, you might want to plan a short vacation to Savannah this summer or the fall might be a better time for job opportunities after everyone has gone back to college and employers are looking for replacements. Also once you do get a job, it makes things much easier to decide on the best place to live bec then you will know which of your choice neighbrhoods offers the best/shortest or most convenient commutes... Best of Luck and God Bless! |
