Valdosta,Ga?

Travel Info
Ok so my job is closing down and there is talk of moving us to Valdosta,Ga. Can anybody tell me anything about it there? Thanks.

Travel Tips
Like most south Georgia towns, Valdosta is going to be full of nice people, low crime rates and will be HOT in the summer (mid 90s will be the norm). However, the winters are very mild (it is right on the Florida border), and you will have little to no pollution. The city is a smaller "city" in Georgia, but it is much larger than a normal "town," so you will have plenty of shopping, theaters, churches and even a large university and amusement park (Wild Adventures) that draws well-known music groups each year. It is located right off the interstate, so getting to Atlanta, Jacksonville, Savannah or Macon will be easy & quick. It is about 3 hours from Atlanta. You will also find the cost of living to be very low - housing prices are great! A 3000 square ft , brick home with an acre of property should run around $225,000. The schools are not so great, but you will find good private schools around that do not cost much. The culture will be southern, very racially tolerant and a strong religious community. Traffic is non-existent, and you will find the pace of life to be medium to slow. One downside: gnats. These are little bugs that fly around you during the summer, but you get used to them. If you want to get an idea of the culture, rent "Facing the Giants," a movie that was filmed nearby in Albany and is actually very good. It is at Blockbuster.

I think you will like it . I like valdosta myself I have been trying to get my hubby to move to ga for a while . the housing market is fair and reasonable something it is not here . I hate the costs of houses here . Yeah definately .
there is a really nice water park there from what i understand. i haven't been there but i have a relative that has gone many times and loves it.
Valdosta is a nice inexpensive place to live. It is hot and humid in the summertime. It is not too bad in the winter time. You never see snow. The people are genuine and friendly.(at least the natives). You are 220 miles south of Atlanta, and 100 miles northwest of Jacksonville, And its flat! Good place to raise kids, and it has a theme park also. if you get transferred there, you may find out you did very well! Hope that helps, and good luck!
