What's the weather like in Atlanta during the first days of August? Is it fun to visit? |
Travel Info I'm thinking of visiting Atlanta with my family (wife and kids 11 and 9). I would hate to spend our time in a hotel because of the rain. Travel Tips You can expect it to be somewhere between 90-98 degrees, with 70-85 % humidity. That is the hottest time of the year here. You may get a little cooldown thru the day, with a rain shower. but it will then heat back up and be even worse. Sorry if thats not what you wanted to hear, but I'd rather you know the truth. If you do decide to come , Good Luck, and enjoy the stay. Others For sure, it's HOT!!! (no different than the rest of the Southeast though). During that time of year, they often get 'pop-up' storms in the afternoon, some which can be rather severe. But the mornings and evenings are OK - except sticky and hot. Its usually hot still and there is plenty to do. Undergroud Atlanta, Six Flags, Stone Mountain park, Coca Cola exhibit, Georgia Aquarium, NIGHT CLUBS, MLK exhibit and lots more. Clue: Atlanta isn't nicknamed HOTlanta for nothing. Just check the weather forecast first. We do get a lot of rain here...after all it is the Deep South..with heat and high humidity..( RAIN) Don't let a little rain slow ya' down..go anyway. Its' HOT, but we're in a drought right now, we haven't had much rain, and the rain we have gotten is mostly pop up/scattered showers. We haven't had it rain all day in a long time, so I think you'll be fine. Even if it did rain there are plenty of places you can explore indoors like the Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta History Center, World of Coca Cola, CNN Tours, we also have plenty of malls in the area near downtown (Perimeter, Lenox, Phipps Plaza, Underground Atlanta). Live in Atlanta Its HOT, Ga has been real short on rain this year. |
