I'm think about moving to Atlanta, whats a great area to move to?

Travel Info
I have a 12 year old and a 4 year old.
What about jobs and schools?

Travel Tips
I would suggest:

1. Decatur - very close to downtown and would be more of an older community but still very accessible.
2. Lilburn / Snellville - great schools in this area, good mix of demographics, good suburban life for rasing family.
3. Alpharetta - accessible by GA 400, nice homes and good schools
4. Hickory Flat / Holly Springs - inside Cherokee County, very affordable homes, excellent environment, lots of young families
5. Marietta / Ackworth - bad traffic, but good area with good schools
6. Henry & Clayton Counties - South of the city. don't know as much about these areas.

Key: figure out where you will work first (or maybe where you will go to church) and then find a good area. Atlanta has lots of communities in the suburbs that will give our children good schools and a lot of strong communities where you can live.

You will find a 2400 sq. ft. home with 1/2 acre of property will cost you about $175,000 - 190,000. There are a lot of communities that have pools & tennis courts in them. The further in towards the city you are, the more expensive the homes. Have a nice move!
Others
Marietta, Ga. Great schools and close to downtown.
Duluth, Buckhead, Marietta, Acworth are all great place for kids jobs and schools. Some are more expensive then other and they are all suburbs for the most part but not too far from Marta, etc. I have friends and family have grown up in those places and loved it.

As far as a job goes try careerbuilder.com or monster.com to start looking!

Good luck!
Lithonia is a nice area.
Peachtree City, GA is a really good city for children and adults. We have golf cart paths, that take you anywhere you want to go in Peachtree City. The schools here are also fantastic. Peeple's Elementary is a really good school, and Rising Starr Middle school is a fantastic school, it got the best math and writing scores in the state of Georgia. And, Starr's Mill high school is a really good school for kids to grow up in. There are a lot of friendly people here, and the golf cart paths are a really good way to get excercise, or just riding bikes with the family. We also have a Peachtree lake, and it's a really pretty lake. On the 4th of July, they shoot off fireworks on the lake, and it's really pretty with the reflection on the water. Also jobs here pay high, and the commute to Atlanta for other jobs is only about 35 minutes. Peachtree City is a really good city to raise a family in!
Cherokee County. It is just north of Atlanta is a great place to live. The crime is rate is low, there is access to any type of store you would want and the drive to downtown is about 45 min. so you are away from all of the cities problems, but it is easy to go down there to braves games or other attractions. House prices are much better than most other areas in Atlanta and there are alot of new neighborhoods with nice houses. The people are really nice and if you get in the Sequoyah HS district your kids will go to a Blue Ribbon school (national award).

Peachtree City is also a nice place. i have been there a few times. The only thing about PTC is that it is south of Atlanta which is a bad area, except PTC. They do have golf cart paths which is awesome. But everyone in PTC works for Delta...lol. Dont move anywhere else besides PTC or Cherokee county or else you will regret it.
anywhere but college park
