July 4: What to do in Atlanta, GA?

I'll spend the day in Atlanta and was wondering what to do. thanks!

in the morning: go see the Peachtree Road Race. Lots of fun. You can go to the ending near Piedmont Park and then work your way over to the Channel 2 parade that is downtown around 11 or 12.

Braves are in town, so you could catch a game & fireworks there. Other things to do: if you go to Lenox for the fireworks, consider getting a room at the Swiss or Ritz and watch the fireworks from your room. Then turn off the lights and go to bed when they are done and avoid traffic. You can also see some history at Kennesaw National Battlefield park or put flags out on the graves in the national cemetary there. I hope this helps!

They are going to shoot fireworks in buckhead at the Lenox Mall... I went last year but it got rained out. Get there EARLY its going to be crowded and u wont have anywhere to park.
You could go to Stone Mountain Park - they do fireworks too. Stone Mountain Park is a short ride east from Atlanta. You can check out the fireworks downtown.
Stone Mtn has a great fire works dispaly and they might even have a show or two on July 4th

Yea I would have to agree with Stone Mountain. Every fourth of July they always do a special laser show followed by beautiful fireworks! But one con is that the traffic is absolutely horrific! It's so crowded so me and my family just parked in some shopping places outside of stone mountain to watch the fireworks because you can still see them there.
