Best vacation spot around Georgia? |
Travel Info We are only going to stay there for 4-5 days. Travel Tips Stay in Atlanta. there is a great downtown core to shop eat and drink at. You can tour the Coke factory, go behind the sceens at CNN and check out a Braves game. There is a Six Flags amusement park, a fantastic Water park and a great outlet mall about a half hour north. You are also a day trip away from everything else in the state. Others CALLAWAY GARDENS USED TO GO THERE AS A KID MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES IN GA LOOK IT UP ON THE INTERNET. I lived outside of Savannah for about 8 yrs. If youve never been there its a great place to visit. plus your only a short drive to the beach. Tybee Island is very nice. Near Savannah. There's tons to do in that city. Don't go to Helen, GA. It's touted to be this cute little Alpine Swiss town. We went there for a secluded honeymoon in May. We left 22 hours after arriving. Talk about a rip off tourist trap. The paint job is cute, but some of the locals are a bit on the scary side and they roll up the sidewalks at 9. Savannah is a charming and historical city to explore its downtown, and there's Tybee Island nearby for a beach (don't expect the Caribbean). YOu can even drive a couple of hours from there and visit Charleston, sc. If you prefer the highlands, head NE from Atlanta to Helen,GA, and if you don't like its cutesy timered-house style, the area is beautiful mountains (tree-covered, not rocky), streams, lakes, farmer's markets on the roadside, crafts shops, one-of-a-kind restaurants, campgrounds, some lodges and motels. Just drive around the NE corner of Georgia and you'll find neat places to stop. I like around Lake Burton in Rabun County, but it's quiet and not many 'attractions'. You're also not far from the Great Smoky Mountains. Check out Gatlinburg, TN and Cherokee, NC. There's a highway connecting the 2 towns that goes through the mountains. Also there's the Cherokee Indian Reservation and Museum. Around Chattanooga there's Rock City and Ruby Falls, both nice and family 'fun' if you have kids. I have to say either Savanna or Tybee Island, I have been to both places and I had a really good time. If you are going to Savanna, try taking a haunted tour at night. Everything in Savanna is haunted, so thats pretty neat. If your going to Tybee Island, then I suggest going to this resturant called The Crab Shack. IT IS BY FAR THE BEST SEA FOOD PLACE IN GEORGIA. Trust me, its worth the stay!! well i live in Atlanta and i would say nothing spend your time at the beach or in new orleans its much better and you will not be bored |
