I am looking to move to Atlanta, GA. What does Buckhead, Midtown, & Virginia Highlands mean?

Travel Info
I am looking to move to Atlanta, GA, and I have read tons of reference to Buckhead, Midtown, Virginia Highlands. I know they're supposed to be areas in Atlanta, but what do they mean, and what area would be better to live in?

Travel Tips
All three of the areas are relatively expensive. Buckhead where I live is the retail destrict/ restarunt district it has very expensive homes, condos and apartments. It used to be the club district but most of the clubs have moved to midtown where they can stay open to 4. Buckhead is similar to uptown in New York. Public transportation is more limited. But its a great place to live if you want to be in the city yet feel less congested and cofined by concrete.

Midtown is also very nice, you have beautiful green spaces, your in the middle of the city with access to the Fox Theater, Museums, Restuarunts, clubs etc. Its also expensive, certain parts are well intergrated with public transportation. Its definitely a nice place to live for young professional...but its also expensive.

VA Hi- Is cool its very ecceletic (sp) with great bars, shops. You can probably rent a beautiful house or apartment here for less than Buckhead or Midtown.Va Hi and Little Five points are home to all different types of people racially, ethnically and fianacially.
Others
Buckhead =$
Allow me to explain.
Buckhead - Very expensive yet very "urban"
Midtown - Gay
Virginia Highlands - People that don't want to get shot or mugged in Buckhead or offended by the acts in Midtown but who don't mind living near immigrants (as long as they do not cross the interstate.)
Now live outside the perimeter
Buckhead has been refered to by the Atlanta Journal as "Where old money lives and new money goes to party". A two bedroom, one bath house can easily go for $600,000. You may be able to find a well-priced condo or apartment. Buckhead is mostly known for its shopping and bar scene. It is easily one of the most exclusive parts of Atlanta, and the location can't be beat.
Midtown is close to Buckhead, they are linked by Peachtree Road. Midtown is more diverse and is more of an urban atmosphere than Buckhead. It is the cultural center of Atlanta. Once again, houses are expensive there, but there are tons of affordable, nice condos and apartments going up in the area.
Virginia Highlands is one of my favorite areas in Atlanta. The houses are all craftsman/bungalow styles, very small, and once again, very expensive (500,000 and up) but beautiful. There are not as many options for housing, i.e.- hardly any condos or apartments, only houses. But a great area for shopping and bar-hopping. Its very popular for 20 and 30 something professionals.
Born and raised in Atlanta!
Really depends on what you are looking for.
