The Georgia Institute of Cosmetology (GIC) is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE).

We participate in Title IV programs including Direct Loan, Pell Grants, and Plus Loans Program.

It is the goal of GIC to provide its students with a quality education in professional surroundings.

Mission Statement
The Georgia Institute of Cosmetology mission is to provide cosmetology training for its students. The Institute's students will be provided with the skills necessary to pursue a successful career. It prepares the students for the work environment by enforcing discipline, moral values, and teaching the joy of achievement and quality performance. The students will be prepared for entry in the related fields of cosmetology.

With this mission in mind, the school continually reviews the techniques and skills required by employers. Instruction is administered in self-paced structural programs, which cater to the needs of the individual. Therefore, teachers give individual as well as group instructions. This combination enables serious students to reach their personal career goals.

Facilities
The Georgia Institute of Cosmetology students are supplied with a very extensive kit and collection of books to assist in their education. The facilities include a Basic Technique Classroom, for freshmen, Advanced Technique students, and Esthetician and Manicuring areas, a student lunchroom, and administrative offices. The classroom is equipped with adequate desk space, several 25" color television, videocassettes Recorder and DVD Players. In addition to the teaching aids used by the school, the Institute maintains a fine library filled with useful material for student research.

Faculty and Advisors
Georgia Institute of Cosmetology requires that its staff have postsecondary education and have sufficient training and experience in the area of responsibility to perform the assigned duties effectively. Instructors must have current master cosmetologist licenses in the state of Georgia, plus an instructor's license. They must have extensive experience in salons and are provided the opportunity to work periodically in salons affiliated with GIC. A senior instructor trains new instructors.

Counseling and Placement
Our staff is available to assist any student with personal problems pertaining to their education. The school also provides assistance in securing employment opportunities for its graduates at no additional charge. We do not of course guarantee employment. Placement service includes activities such as:

Compiling and distributing information concerning current and future positions available.
Contacting prospective employers concerning individual students who might be interested in applying for positions.
Advising students concerning acceptable levels of compensation.
Assisting students in completing applications and advising students in professional attitudes toward seeking employment.

Financial Aid
Georgia Institute of Cosmetology is approved by the US Department of Education, for the following programs:

Pell Grants
William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program
William D. Ford Federal Direct Plus Loan
Veterans Administration (only for Athens Location)
Georgia Institute of Cosmetology sponsors a monthly assistance programs for those who qualify to help with expenses such as child care, transportation and other pressing needs. Students are encouraged to apply for this program.
