Campervan using diesel o Petrol. 1litre can run how many km? |
Travel Info Campervan using diesel o Petrol. 1litre can run how many km? Travel Tips I can't give you the exact stats. But I can tell you how I would compare them based on my expereince. We had a diesel campervan and travelled around Europe with it for 4 months. We filled up half as often as our freinds who had a diesel, and each full tank cost us half as much as our friends. So it cost us around 1/4 to 1/3 the cost to run a diesel, as it cost them to run a petrol. The difference was incredibly obvious (but so was their speed up hills versus us). If you are travelling aound NZ in a diesel campervan, it definately will work out cheaper. It will be slower too. But, NZ has hardly any motorways, and most goods are transported by road rather than rail. Roads are usually single lane with the occasional passing lanes. There are many hills. So you won't go fast in a diesel on NZ roads, but the traffic slows you down anyway. And you are supposed ot take it easy in a campervan! Others My car does 15km/l (renault clio)... my old car (mx5) did only 10km/l. I'd say that a petrol campervan (depending on size, engine size, engine condition etc) would do somewhere around 5-10km/l in petrol. For diesel, it would do much better. My brother's beat-up old diesel station wagon does around 20km/l, so for a larger vehicle, I'd guess around 10-15km/l. |
