How does the bus system in Auckland work?

Travel Info
I am travelling to Auckland in a few weeks. How and where do I purchase a day-pass for travelling around Auckland city and places such as Ponsonby, if any?

Travel Tips
Tickets can be purchased at official sellers or much easier directly from a bus driver or at a ferry ticket counter.
There are two different day passes, one called the daytripper for $7.50(NZ) that allowes you to travel zone A and B for a day (roughly 8-10 km around the centre).
The other one is the Auckland Day-Pass for $11 (used to be 10.40 until Feb. 07) that allowes you to travel all Stagecoach busses and the innercity ferries to Devonport, Birkenhead and Halfmoon Bay. You shouldn't miss Devonport! The ferry to Birkenhead is nice if you have spare time, because you will go underneath the harbour bridge.

There is one bus called link, you can use it either with your day pass or for 1.50 a trip. It cirlcles around the city and stops at the most important points of interests like Ponsonby, Parnell, Victoria market, near the museum, K-Road Queens Street etc.
All busses end or depart from either Britomart or Mid-Town (around the Queen Street). In the Britomart centre is an information with very helpful and friendly people.

Other Travel Tips
kia ora.... you can buy an all day pass for about $10, you get them from the bus driver... enjoy auckland!
Here's the website for Stagecoach Auckland in case you need to find which bus routes to take to reach specific sites of interest. The commuter rail system is called MAXX in case you want to travel farther into the suburbs (South and West). There is no train station at the airport. Enjoy your trip.
