Austin is a beautiful place. It has lovely hills, lakes and trees. There's a great nightlife downtown on 6th Street and the surrounding area. Plus, there are a lot of things to do in terms of seeing performances (theater and dance) as well as outdoor activities. The university has about 50,000 students, so the city definitely has a young, hip feel to it.

TX boy 19 is crazy... Austin is a very fun town. Austin has 6th Street. A street of nothing but bars and clubs.
Austin is the live music capital of the world. While in Austin you have to go to Gruene Texas. Gruene has the oldest dancehall in texas. They play host to some of the best Texas country musicians around. Willie, pat green, charlie robison, jason boland, cory morrow, texas tornados, george strait, kevin fowler, and many others. Just outside of Austin is New Braunfels. GO TUBE THE GUADALUPE! its a must when visiting the hill country. Bring lots of beer and a great attitude, because you are about to have the time of your life. Oh yeah and its host to a little school called THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS (heard of them)!
one of the best places in texas!if you could only visit one city in the state, that would be my pick. there is such a wide variety of things for all people, families, singles, young and old. i lived there four years and never had a problem finding things to do.
Austin is a fantastic place. So much to do here. Food is great, night life incredible, even the churches here rock out.

Lots of culture and lots of beautiful people. Cost of living is a little high, and summers get danged hot, y'all.

Austin is a cultural oasis in a conservative state. Friendly, educated people... flagship Whole Foods, beautiful lake and recreational areas, a music scene that is second to none...You can find it all here...punk, dance, jazz, hip hop, you name it... Something to do every night of the week... fabulous restaurants ranging from kitchy to fancy...6th Street...the warehouse district (which is more upscale than 6th).
