We're from Orange County California and thinking about moving to Austin. Anyone else move to TX from the OC? |
Travel Info We want out of the OC. Anyone else move to TX from OC? What's it like? Any suggestions? Travel Tips I have a couple friends that moved here from there. The real estate prices are better, but hey had a harder time than they thought they would adjusting to our culture. Basically, down here everyone is nice to everyone else on the surface but it is a lot harder to get closer to individuals. <-paraphrasing them Others Safer than oc lol i moved out from half moon bay real nice place no ocean in your front door but nice lakes n rivers www.austin360.com I grew up in Southern California and my sister has lived in Austin for over 6 years, so I have visited there quite a bit. Austin is probably the most liberal and laid back city in Texas. It's a great place, with all the ammenities of any highly populated college town (lots of good restaurants and edgy stores). It also has Austin Lake nearby and lots of open areas and parks. It gets really hot and humid during the summer but isn't as bad as Houston. It's often referred to as the "Live Music Capital" and it seems like there's always a show to go to. However, it seems like real estate is quickly getting more and more expensive because it has become such a popular place. The University of Texas is one of the largest in the U.S. so that gives you an idea of how big it is and how much it affects the city. Austin is a neat city but if you want to move there you might want to see the city itself and the surrounding more suburban areas as well. Personally, I think if you are thinking of moving there you should just go visit. |
