Travel Info What are some day trips for the central Texas area? Travel Tips Just got back from there...Fredericksburg is nice if you're into touristy/shopping kinds of things. Near there, Enchanted Rock is an interesting place to hike and climb. I tend to like just driving through the countryside, particularly in the evening, looking for deer. The Lyndon B. Johnson parks at Johnson City and Stonewall are interesting. Going the other direction from Austin, the Spoetzl at Shiner is a nice day trip.
