What r some good areas 2 live in Austin, TX? Good schools, low crimes. Also, how is IT job market there? |
Travel Info Currently live in the northern VA suburban area. Travel Tips It is cheaper to live outside Austin and commute in. The schools are good in Georgetown and Round Rock (which are north of Austin). They are currently constructing more highways to ease the high volume of traffic to and from outlying areas. Buda and Kyle are other "suburbs" of Austin, however, the schools are not so great down there and traffic is very bad as tehre is only 1 way to get there from Austin (on Interstate-35). In conclusion, it might be a good idea to look for a place in between Round Rock and Austin. Canyon Vista Middle School, McNeil High School, and Westwood High School (better of the two) are excellent schools. They are in the Round Rock School District but are closer to Austin. As far as IT jobs go, there are many to be found in Austin. They have job fairs periodically and judging by the number of corporate participants, the industry looks like it is rapidly growing. Dell, HP, Cisco, Solectron, Samsung, Sun Microsystems, IBM, Siemens, AMD are among many other high technology companies located in the Austin area. Austin is quite a busy place: it has many companies, a huge university, and many vocational colleges. The one downside is that there is not a lot to do for children. Nevertheless, San Antonio is about 1 1/2 hours away and has a zoo, a riverwalk, museums, and sports events (Spurs). Others The saying is that there is no un-employment in Austin. Westlake. Ranked 16th best school district out of 160 in America. It is only 10 minutes to Austin. I lived there. |
