Im after info on train and bus routes, (if any), and any other transport info about texas.? |
Travel Info Hi, im travelling to Texas soon, and im looking for information about trains or buses (if any), because after flying into Austin, i will be travelling to Houstan, Dallas, Amarillo Lubbock and back to Austin. So if you have any info, or know of any good websites, feel free to let me know. And thanks heaps for helping me. Cheers Matt Travel Tips I'm not sure when you are coming to Texas, but there is a new website launching soon for ridesharing - www.ridester.com. It's a great way to get to other cities by riding with someone else. It will help you find a match and you can pay the driver over the website after the trip has been completed. But it's not launching until August, and then it's only in Alpha.... so check then! Others this might help. Have a nice vacation ;) http://www.hm-usa.com/states/tx.html#tr... There isn't alot between the cities you named as far as local trains or busses. For instance; from Austin to Houston is about three hour drive. And that is the shortest trip on your list of destinations. So you can either rent a car and get ready to do A LOT of driving, try to catch commuter planes between the cities you need, or look for Greyhound service between them. There is a Greyhound station in all of the cities you listed. And that would be my recommended choice........ it's cheaper and you get to enjoy the scenery more.......... that or rent a car and drive so that if you see something ineresting along the way, you can stop and check it out. http://greyhound.com/ Is this a sightseeing trip, or do you have business in all of these cities? If you're just sightseeing, then I would suggest dropping Amarillo and Laredo from your itinerary. They are both VERY far from the other cities you mentioned, and while they each have their charms, you probably won't find much to do there without a car of your own. I agree that using Greyhound buses would be the most affordable choice. Amtrak rail runs from Dallas to Austin to San Antonio, and there's a different line that runs between San Antonio and Houston. You could use Amtrak when traveling between these cities, but any other connections would require going by bus or air. If you have the money, then fly Southwest Airlines. If not, go Greyhound. Or rent a car and drive yourself. If you could provide some more detail about the nature of your trip and how long you'll be there, you might get some better advice. |
