Where are good places to go while on vacation in Austin and Galveston? |
Travel Info July 20 -26 Travel Tips A previous responder was referring to the Kerbey Lane Cafe. There are several of them, so check to see which one is closest to you. They're all equally good/funky/cool. Also, Magnolia Cafe on South Lamar is good too. In Galveston, check out the Strand Historic district and the Bishop's Palace. Also, you can ride the free ferry to Port Bolivar; that's a nice diversion. The beaches north of Port Bolivar are much less crowded than the ones on Galveston Island, and you can drive on them (unlike on Galveston). For seafood, Gaido's on the Seawall is popular, but a little pricey. (in Austin) They have the best pancakes in town! And if you don't like pancakes, they have anything and everything else you could think of! In Galveston, I haven't been there since Rita so I don't know what is left, but I suggest you go shopping, shopping, and shopping! Have fun and God bless! |
