Best/Worst Malls in Austin?

Travel Info
I would like to find a mall that is the most like the Galleria in Houston and is also close to the UT campus.

Travel Tips
Dinocruz must not be from Austin, because I don't know of anyone who would seriously compare Dobie "Mall" to the Galleria.

Unfortunately, there aren't any good malls close to UT. One of the best malls in Austin is Barton Creek Square. I say this because they have renovated it in the last few years, and they added a Nordstrom, which is pretty upscale. It also has an AMC theater which gives discounts on evening admission if you have a student ID. (When looking up showtimes on the Internet, make sure you reference the AMC Barton Creek. There's another theater with a similar name that is NOT an AMC, and it is outside the mall across the street.)

Highland Mall used to be the best mall in Austin, but it has become somewhat run down, and it is overrun with teenagers from East Austin. It may not feel safe at night.

Lakeline Mall is nice, but it's really far north (at 183 and 620), so it's probably not worth your consideration.

I would say the WORST mall is Northcross. It was a major mall at one time, but it has lost all of its department stores, and now it has a sporting goods store and a Beall's (which is similar to JCPenney in quality, but only half the size). I wouldn't bother with Northcross.

Give Barton Creek Square a try. If you don't have a car, check the Capital Metro system map for the best route to get there. It'll be worth it! Source(s): http://www.simon.com/mall/default.aspx?i...

Other Travel Tips
Your best bet for a good mall near UT is Dobie Mall: 2025 Guadalupe St, Ste 126 Austin, Texas 78712

Hapy shopping
ok whoever told you dobie was kidding unless they've SERIOUSLY updated it since i was there a few years ago..... we dont have anything near as big as the galleria... thats yalls pride in joy..... BUT Barton Creek Square mall is the best mall.... really one of the only malls because no offense to the other ones but they are just pretty small with not too popular stores. Also if you need some big shopping the outlet mall between austin and san antonio is nice (they are building one closer to austin right now that should be completed sometime soon... i think that it is in Round Rock) hope that helps.... happy shopping :)
Lakeline is your best mall in Austin but it is in Lake Travis but Barton Creek Mall is the 2nd best and it is close to UT Campus.
