Where's the best area to live at in Austin for a recent grad? |
Travel Info Where's the best area to live at in Austin for a recent grad? Travel Tips Live North dear. Not as much crime, and you can actually walk around at night. I live off 183 and 620. It's not bad. I used to live dead center of downtown. HATED IT!!! Didn't have any problems cause I'm a big, mean, white boy. But, I saw what people had to put up with. And I had to help a few chicks out of some fights that were just lame. Play it save, live North if money is not a worry. Others It depends on what you are looking for: 1) location to your job 2) proximity to downtown 3) amount of $ you want to/can afford to spend for rent 4) amount you can afford to spend on mortgage 5) proximity to lakes etc. The list can go much longer...with additional conditions you may want to consider. A general view is that the west side of Austin has the hillside which is a relatively beautiful area to live in. Downtown Austin offers lots of venues for entertainment (music, etc), so living near by is also good. North of UT could be nice too... So as you can tell it is tough to recommend one area only... 6+ years in Austin southeast Austin its full of many colorful charters. lots of drugs, hookers, gang bangers and muggers by far the best place to live Depends on your finances and preferences. North isn't too expensive, but it's nice. (And holy crap, if you want an apartment, there are a MILLION. Like up on Metric.) West side is really expesive. So is South, but not as much. East side.... You don't want to live there. I'd suggest off of Far West or Metric. Nice area. Born and bred Austinite |
