Travel Tips Look into Wimberly TX - still close enough to Austin to be convenient, but secluded enough that it has a small-town feel. Others Wow, if your not worried about the solitude...Pampa is a small small town. Up near where Oklahoma touches the state of Texas. My cousin has lived down there for a few years now and hates coming back to Chicago when he visits. Most cities in Texas are small by Chicago or New York standards ( land or population ) Even some big named cities like Fort worth and Galveston ( country song cities) are small by comparison. Dallas and Houston all have big city problem so try and find a spot away from their suburbs. And last but not least....you'll pick up the twang real fast....my cousin did. Good Luck... There is the Temple/Belton area. It is a small town, not the country, but small. I think the popualtion in 2000 was 14,643. It is a really easy going town. Here is the Belton city website : http://www.ci.belton.tx.us/ I worked at the Chamber of Commerce Depends on how big Spokane is. Is it 100,000 people? Waco is about that big. It has three colleges including Baylor. They are expanding and have a lot of places to eat out. Does Spokane have 1500 people? Cuero is about that size. It is a little north of Victoria. It has a small community college and a decent school. The Cuero Gobblers take football very seriously. Does Spokane have 10,000 People? Lake Travis is a great area. The school is very diverse with many classes to choose from. Its about thirty minutes from Austin. Does Sokane have about 400 people? If so, Evant is the place for you!! There is less than 200 students from K-12. Its about an hour away from Waco. It is a small hick town with its own bank, local family owned grocery store, a feed store, and many antique stores.
