Ideas for Austin? |
Travel Info We are visiting Austin TX at the end of the month. Any really cool places to eat/visit that won't break the bank? We are going for a weekend getaway. Thanks! Travel Tips I live in California and dated my boyfriend long-distance for some time before he moved to CA. When we met, he used to live in Austin. When I was going to meet him for the first time, he had planned the entire weekend. Here's what he had: Friday Drive from the airport Train Ride at Zilker (http://austin.about.com/cs/tours/l/blvt_... ) Canoeing @ Town Lake (http://austin.about.com/cs/tours/l/blvt_... ) Bat Watching on Congress Avenue Bridge (http://austin.about.com/cs/bats/p/bats.h... ) Eating at Nu Age Caf茅 (http://www.nuagecafe.com/ ) Bowling at UT Tower (http://austin.about.com/cs/uttower/p/utt... ) Mozzart Caf茅 at Town Lake (http://www.mozartscoffee.com/ ) Saturday Texas State Capitol (http://austin.about.com/cs/tours/p/vt_dt... ) Governors Mansion (http://austin.about.com/cs/tours/p/vt_dt... ) Dillo Ride (http://austin.about.com/cs/tours/p/vt_dt... ) UT Campus and Business school (http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/ ) Mount Bonnel (http://austin.about.com/cs/tours/l/blvt_... ) 360 Bridge (http://austin.about.com/od/photogallery/... ) Back to the house to Change Mediterranean Restaurant Ararat (http://austin.citysearch.com/profile/102... ) Russell Peters (http://www.utpac.org/2005/month.php?mont... ) Sixth street (http://austin.about.com/cs/sixthstreet/p... Sunday Oasis for lunch (http://www.oasis-austin.com/gallery.html... ) Windy Point (http://www.windypointpark.com/ Drive to the airport We had a great time! Hope you have a great getaway :-) Source(s): My sweetie! Other Travel Tips 6TH STREET BABY! IF YOU'RE GOING TO PARTY. IF NOT, LAKE AUSTIN IS REALLY PRETTY. THEY HAVE CHARTER BOATS (CHEAP) THAT TAKE YOU OUT ALL DAY. Going to the capitol is cool, and free. There are some really cool old churches to go look at too. I would suggest getting into town, parking in a day lot off of 6th Street, and just walk. 6th street for starters and then you need to make your way to San Antonio to see the River walk and Alamo. It is not a huge deal but it is apart of Texas history. |
