Information about Killeen, Tx (Fort Hood)? |
Travel Info Is there anyone from the Killeen area that can tell me a little about the town. I was wondering about the climate, activities, crime rates, what the people are like etc. I'm moving there at the end of this year and so far I've only heard bad things and everyone I've talked to seems so unhappy to be living there. Travel Tips I've been living here for about 11 years now. And to me it is not that bad. Yeah traffic has gotten a little worse over the years but the place just contiues to grow more and more. One of the bad things is the mall. For a pretty big city we have a really small mall but stores change frequently. Crime is not as bad as other cities. It really depends on the neighborhood you live in and the people you trust. Yes there are alot of shady people around so be careful who you talk to and who trust. But for the most part people are pretty nice and respectful if you are too. Like i said you just got to watch on who you trust. I wouldn't trust anyone but thats just me. If you are single watch out for the GI's, they have a tendency to knock you up (get pregnant) before they leave to iraq. The climate is f**ked up, its cold one day and the next your outside with your shorts and tank top but thats anywhere in texas. There's really not too much to do here, except go out to eat and movies. But Austin is right around the corner. You are right just about everyone hates it here. But i've gotten use to it and i like it here. It just depends on where you come from and what you are use to and since mainly everyone here is military they've been all around the world and killeen may be a step down from what they are use to. Anything else you want to know, let me know Others I was there in the 70's. Glad I'm not there now. It's not so bad. I have only lived there for about a year now but I'm from Austin,Texas which is only a hour away. Well, It's always hot cause that's Texas for you. There are so many cops that the crime rate is really low compared to like Houston and Austin. I guess it all depends on where you live. I live in Harker Heights and so many cops drive by my house all during the day that I feel really safe since I live right next to the high school. Most of the people are really nice. When you move there just start meeting some of the neighbors and they will help you out with whatever you need. |
