I'm going to austin, TX in 2 weeks, what can I visit? any suggestions? |
Travel Info I'm staying there for a week Travel Tips Ok - since everyone is saying 6th street I thought I'd give you some other options. 1. Do the day spa at Lake Austin Spa & Report. AWESOME. 2. Shopping at the Arboretum 3. San Marcos outlets 4. Drinks on the deck at the Oasis at Lake Travis 5. Walk around Town Lake You can check out all kinds of great things to do, what is going on with live music and great restaurants at: www.austin360.com Yesterday I was wearing sandals and a t-shirt, today it's cold and rainy. Weather here is crazy !! Others 6th Street is where all the clubs and parties are. Then you can go out to the river and Hippy Hollow for some outdoor recreation. There's lots of Things to do in Austin, it's a great city. They have a great mall, And you should check out 6th street. After going there, you might not ever want to leave. I'm sure you have lots of fun. sixth street after dark definately, the texas war museum, and if your lookin for somewhere good to eat the San Fransico steak house is outstanding. If your into malls the one there is nice too. 6Th street!!! its wonderful down there go at night to enjoy bars clubs dancing music food! Pf Changs is a wonderful Chinese restaurant if u like that type of food take money though its kinda pricey i would say about 50 dollars for 2 peeps depending on what u order Places to visit, during the day: South Congress has fun shops...antiques, costumes, collectibles and outdoor cafes. Head north towards downtown and check out the view from the bridge. Take a walk on the path by Town Lake. Eat at TGI Fridays for the view. Check out Austin architecture on Congress...Frost Tower, Driskill Hotel on 6th street. 6th street is fun during the day, too. Check playbills for that night. Museums on Congress and also north of the Capital on MLK Blvd. Bob Bullock Museum has Imax Theatre, across the road Blanton Art Museum is fantastic. Music is everywhere! Go to "Book People" just off 6th on Guadalupe and check out this great bookstore and pick up free newspapers (out front) highlighting that weeks events. Inside check everything out! Get a Book People "Keep Austin Weird" T-shirt. On 6th street (across from Miller Blue Print..look for the burgundy canopy on the right) have a delectable lunch or dinner at Bess's Bistro...casual/romantic setting. (Wine cellar with great lighting, fireplace and some coves w/chandaliers; even their hamburger is a mouth-watering event. Large wine selection.) Catch a flick at the Alamo Draft House! The one on South Lamar has fun shops and restaurants nearby. Take 6th street west until it takes you to 5th street and head west to "Red Bud". Take a walk on this island dog park and meet great pets and people! After that go further west on 5th and eat at Chuy's Hula Hut. If it's warm eat out over the lake. austin is ok.... it depends what u like... rock captial of the world if you go to 6th street.... u have University of Texas and the 50,000 rugrats that go there near downtown...that pretty cool.... the city slogan is "keep austin weird" which is why i would recommend heading and hour south to San An and enjoy the river walk, the rivercenter, the alamo, great restaurants good safe clubs and a more diverse city |
