Where are camping/hiking areas in texas? |
Travel Info I want to go hiking somewhere really pretty where it is safe to pitch a tent overnight. Travel Tips Western Texas. Big Bend and the Guadalupe Mountains are fantastic. When I was there they were warning of thefts of gear left in locked cars. Apparently someone(s) were coming over the border, stealing stuff and going back. That was a number of years ago, don't know how it changed. Still, was beautiful! go to nps.gov. BIG BEND is so awesome!!!... lots of campsites, not a lot of people, miles and miles of trail.. but watch out for the javelinas! I found this website in Brownsville, Texas, with access to the recreation and hiking areas nearby . I have never been there, but it looks like something I might try . This is near the Gulf and the islands that make up the state and National Parks. I am sure there are many others. Check the Texas Tourism Board and other websites. Good luck. John B.
