Travel Info What are the best and affordable neighborhoods for families in the round rock/pflugerville/NE Austin area? Travel Tips If you go NE Austin, stay south or west of Rundberg and I35. Round Rock and Pflugerville are much cheaper than anywhere in Austin. Round Rock has the best school district, although Austin is good, you just have to be choosier about the neighborhoods. I personally really like the neighborhood near Lamar and Rundberg, around the Little Walnut Branch of the public library. Great Vietnamese restaurants in the area, too! Plus a big HEB, a library and several major bus stops right around the residential area, so it's convenient. Depending on your priorities, I prefer living in Austin. It can take an hour to drive from even north Austin to Round Rock during the UT football season, SXSW, etc. There are so many cool small businesses in Austin and pretty much everything in the suburbs is a chain. Plus greater diversity in Austin. It's fun to talk to neighbors who've lived all over the world and speak multiple languages; lots of great gardeners and plant nurseries in Austin, too. On the other hand, you can get a bigger house with a bigger yard for less money in Round Rock or Pflugerville. Good luck! |
