how can I find a great nightclub job in austin,texas?

My brother works for a valet company. He's worked downtown for 3 years now. Quit his daytime job to work as a valet. You could go downtown and talk to the valets who are in the know about every place down there. Then you'd know what kind of owners you were dealing with...coke heads, d*ck heads, etc. I worked downtown for about 2 years, but it's a tempermental business with all the alcohol and drugs.

The best way to find a job is to go to the bar you want to work at and ask directly. If there is a position, the key is to keep going back and checking on your application. This industry is so close-knit that usually an ad in the paper or online is not necessary. Word of mouth is the way to go for most establishments. It can be a lengthy process, but this is the best way. Sometimes jobs will be posted on Craigslist, but that is only about 10% of them. The Chronicle is a good source too, which has a website.
