Drinking age is 21 and these clubs and their owners have been burned by the lawmen enough to know better than to serve you a drink underage. Some of the best fake ID spotters work there so don't even think about that. You can hang out in some of the clubs that aren't just for drinking, restaurants, pool hall, tat shop, music clubs, or just walk around and stare at the people. Never a boring time, but be careful. Plenty safe with all the cops around, but lots of guys running around that don't know they are alive. Unpredictable at times.

I doubt it, most clubs will mark 18 and up as do not serve alcohol because they don't want to alienate the college crowd that shows up that aren't legal yet. I lived near Austin as a teenager and heard of people going there to party, so unless things have changed, I imagine if you are 18 or over you can go.

noo! people of all ages go there to have fun!! but of course the drinking age in the clubs is 21....but yeah! u dont have to be 21 or over to go!! its for everyone who likes that kind of scene!
if you plan to drink. the bouncer will ask for i d. some clubs will let you in and some wont. the ones that will, will ask for i d at the bar and you can only drink juice, soda, water, etc.
i think the first couple of answerers are not knowledgable about what 6th street is like. there are a few places 18 and up can go, but the majority of them are 21 and up only. i have been to the 18 and up since a friend or two of mine was under 21, really crappy places and rather ghetto, nasty people. the better places to go are the 21 and up. dont waste your time at the other ones.
