I am relocating to Austin in March and would like info on apartments and crime.? |
Travel Info I've applied to Rosemont at Hidden Creek apartments, is this a good apartment complex? A good area to live in for a single mom of 3? I hear a lot of talk about crime, what type of crime is going on? I live in Buffalo,NY and Murder is the top crime here, so I don't want to jump from the fire to the frying pan. Can anyone give me some advice on the overall reputation of Austin? Travel Tips Austin is a great place to live. I'm just going to warn you about living on the east side though...that is where most of the crime is. Im not sure what the top crime is but I know on that side of town you'll find more drug deals and shady people. And the schools in that area will probably not be good for your three kids. Try a place in north, or northwest austin, even some of central Austin is fine. It is a fun place to live if you like to do outdoor things and listen to live music. Good luck! Others My family and myself are also moving to Austin at the end of March. I'm not sure about the specific apartment complex, but I know the crime rate is much lower than in Buffalo. Its very mellow, and in some higher end suburbs practically crime free. Austin is great. It is a great place for kids to grow up. Its very cultural. My dad lives in Round Rock (right outside of Austin) and it is beautiful! The traffic is horrible in Austin though! Austin is definitely a safe city, although there are neighbourhoods you will want to avoid, such as "East Austin" meaning most anything East of IH-35. That is where the bulk of the crime occurs. The suburbs are very nice to live in, if you can afford it and the commute. Round Rock was ranked the 13th safest city in America in 2005 (of which we are quite proud). They just opened up new toll roads that I imagine would make the traffic considerably better even if you don't use them. If you would prefer to live closer in to the city, the Northwest area is quite nice (around Spicewood Springs, 360, etc.) and there is lots of shopping nearby on 183. I would like to move up there actually. Several of my friends live there and I have never heard of any crime happenings. I am not sure where that apartment complex is, but if it is in the south near Slaughter Ln. then it should be fine. Westlake, Cedar Park, Pflugerville are also nice suburbs. I hope you like Austin! I live in Austin. buy ur bf hands there ,,,,,even plenty rapist oaky listen to the people like the 2 first girls there right. the traffic is nothing compared to nyc atlanta dallas california like la any how. the east side most of it. but look why highly illegal territory and poverty though people dont know some of the biggest drug deallers go to austin high thats a good school but saying one side has more drugs true. but they never bought weed. take it from me crim is low. and well thats why the city takes graffiti so seriosuly like the buff so fast. |
