I think Hyde Park is probably the best area for grad students/people not in their 20s. It's close to campus, and there are fewer drunken frat boys/sorority girls in that area -- therefore, it's quieter.
Others
Hyde Park, the West Lynn area, Tarrytown, Jollyville (these are of course increasing in distance from UT
