Any recommended stops while driving from Dallas to Austin? |
Travel Info Its a few hours of driving. Are they any nice places or stops on the middle of the road to enjoy or visit? Travel Tips Other than a stop in West for kolaches and a potty break I would just keep going. It's all flat and all boring! Good Luck I drive it every 2 weeks! Check out a book on tape it's more fun. Others the outlet mall in hillsboro is a good place for bargain shoppers it is about 45 miles south of Dallas on I35 There are some caverns on the way, you gotta look for the billboards. New Braunfuls smokehouse is a must!!, but its about 20-45 miles outside of Austin, heading South. lots of stops along where you can go swimming in natural water holes, campsites too. Also, in Austin, you GOTTA try "the County Line' Restaurant. It overlooks the Lake, it has indoor/and outdoor seating, and the best steaks and ribs,,,YUM!!! As for shopping, you will come across many major outlets for dome GREAT bargains. stop in West for kolaches they are the best i think it is exit 353 or something close to that. there are outlet malls in hillsboro and round rock. there is a great zoo in waco. Texas Ranger museum in Waco. Its all about the legendary Rangers from the old times to today. Great gun collection and lots of facinating stories and artifacts. Definitely stop in Salado. This is the most charming small town between Dallas and Austin. http://www.salado.com/ |
