Is Austin TX a very vunerable spot for hurricanes and torrnados? |
Travel Info We are gettting ready to take an RV trip through and around Austin, I know there are storm warnings for the next couple of months? Are we safe Travel Tips You should be fine as far as hurricanes go- Austin is a few hours from the coast. As for tornadoes, Austin is right at the border where the plains (to the east) meet the hill country (to the west.) When tornadoes occur, they tend to happen in the plains areas. So there is the possibility of a tornado, but it's very unlikely. I wouldn't worry about it! Enjoy your trip! Others yes, Austin is nice. You are very safe. Austin is such a nice place, and weather is no concern. You might get some rain and minor flash flood warnings, but no hurricanes or tornadoes. Austin is South of tornado alley and too far inland for hurricanes. It is generally very hot in the summer. You will never get a hurricane is Austin, and I doubt tornado's. It is in the hill country so if you are camping be sure to stay on high ground, because there is always a danger of flash floods if you are near a creek or river. It is a beautiful area and you will have a great time. If a hurricane came inland toward Austin, it is so far inland that it would be downgraded probably below tropical depression status by the time it reaches Austin. But DON'T think tornadoes are not possible!! Yes, it is south of tornado alley, but remember the F5 that destroyed part of Jarrell about 10 or 12 years ago!! Jarrell! F5!! 40 miles north of Austin!! Good thing is central Texas weather agencies are very experienced & they are rare in Austin . ummm hello the city is like hours away from the coast...so no |
