Best directions to Austin, TX?

My friend and I are leaving for Austin from Dallas today. What would be the best route to go down there?? I would map quest it but that takes you the long way, and we don't wanna do that.

Travel Tips

1: Start out going NORTHWEST on FEDERAL ST toward N ERVAY ST.
2: Turn LEFT onto N ERVAY ST.
3: Stay STRAIGHT to go onto N AKARD ST.
4: Merge onto TX-366 W / WOODALL ROGERS FWY W via ramp on the LEFT toward I-35E.
5: Merge onto I-35E S toward WACO.
6: Merge onto I-35 S / US-81 S via the exit on the LEFT.
7: Take EXIT 234B toward 8TH-3RD STS.
8: Turn SLIGHT LEFT onto I-35 N.
9: Turn RIGHT onto E 6TH ST.
10: Turn LEFT onto CONGRESS AVE.
11: Turn LEFT onto E 5TH ST.
12: End at Austin, TX US

Other Travel Tips

Go South on I-35E and drive through Waco, Round Rock and right into Austin. Takes about 4 hours
I-35 South
straight down I35. Takes 3 hours to get from Dallas to Austin if you drive it during the day when there's less traffic - drove it MANY MANY MANY times.

Get on I-35 (go south)...you'll get here in about 3.5 or 4 hours. It's the easiest way I know of.
