4 year old with Food (Nut) Allergies, we're moving to Germany - Are there warnings on labels? |
Travel Info I have a 4 year old with severe nut allergies. Here most products are labeled if they come into contact with peanuts or tree nuts. How are things in Germany? Is SoyNut Butter available there? We will be there for 2 years so I want to bring a case with us if it is not. Thanks for all your help! Travel Tips Go ahead and bring a case or take some and have a friend send you some later :-D All ingredients are listed on the box but as everyone has stated, they麓re in German. But since you麓ll be there for 2 years, you 麓ll definitely pick up enough of the language if you try! Peanuts are Erdn眉sse, pecans are Pecan眉sse (but not that commonly sold), walnuts are Waln眉sse. Since your child is 4 you will probably want to put her in a german Kindergarten (starts at 3 and is a great experience for your kid) so just make sure they understand. Nut allergies are not that common in Europe but every Kindergarten understands the restrictions that come with them. And by the way, if you ever need to seek a pediatrician or any other doctor for anything, Germany has a great health care system so don麓t worry about not getting good medical care in case your 4 year old gets sick! |
