Travel Info What are the "must-see" cities and sites in Germany? Travel Tips ah - all these answers make me itch for a quick vacation! lol.. I have to agree with a bunch of answers, Kreuth is absolutely gorgeous, so would be Rothenburg ob der Tauber and many other bavarian cities. Even the bigger ones like Munich! I went on and on about Munich in another answer.. Berlin is great as well, tons of things to do for any and every taste! Then the Rhine River, yup - definitely a great place up and down, the Loreley, R眉desheim, all the little towns along it, the wine capital of the world, Oppenheim (been titled that a couple of times :-D) and Nierstein if you like wine (you might get Oppenheimer Kr枚tenbrunnen in a restaurant near you wherever you are), all the castles along the Rhine and Mosel (you can stay overnight in some of them, just have to plan it good).. Mainz is a wonderful place, it麓s 2000 years old (yup!!) and Julius Ceasar wrote about it in his books about the gallic wars. It麓s main cathedral is 1000 years old and the Stefansdom has beautiful windows made by Marc Chagall. There are tons of roman things to discover and it麓s definitely worth a stopover. Trier is really nice and has beautiful roman sites to see as well but is a bit off the beaten path on the Luxembourg border. Hamburg is a great place, too, if you happen to be in the north, so are Bremen and M眉nster. If you are a nature loving person and you麓re in the north you definitely want to check out the tideland/wadden sea coastline area of the north sea around B眉sum and St. Peter Ording .. wow.. Dresden is absolutely everything that the other answerer has written - so worth going to. Whatever you choose, if you look for things to discover, you麓ll find them everywhere in Germany! Oh and about the Restaurant Post, I remember an old Bavarian guy telling me that you can almost never go wrong with eating at a place called the Post in Bavaria... lol...
