Travel Tips
Have fun. Start in Hamburg, do (it is a must) a Fleetfahrt, once you are there you will figure it out and it is cool. Go to the Baltic Sea from there, Timmendorfer Strand is beyond hip! Berlin is party town, this city never sleeps, something like NY. Bremen is like Hamburg on a smaller scale, but still worth a visit. Everthing in the northern part of Germany is geared toward seafood, so enjoy it, in Hamburg every sunday morning close to the harbor, the fish market 'happens' they start at 5 am till 9 am, a good tip for after the clubs...

In the middle is the Ruhrgebiet, many big towns in a pretty small area, Koelln, Aachen, Duesseldorf, Duisburg, Essen..., in Koelln (Cologne) is the Koellner Dom, probably the second largest cathedral in all of Europe, the Vatican is bigger. In Koelln the food is beer and it is called Koellsch, comes in small couple of ounces glasses, if the waiters appear rude, they are, it is a trademark you are just there to drink anyway...

In the south, Munich is alright and a good start into the Alps. Schloss Neuschwanstein (yes, the Disney castle) is touristy, but for a reason, the castle is really, really nice. The Bodensee is worth a trip for scenery, I like Chiemsee better, but pretty much everything around it is privately owned, so not much access to the lake, but see it and enjoy it.

Austria is pretty much just waiting for the winter and the snow. But if you need to go, to Austria (to check it off the list of places visited) Salzburg is a fun town, as well as Insbruck, but again they just wait for the snow... Austria is the home of the Wiener Schnitzel, and you will have to look for a long time to find a bad one, really! For dessert, Salzburger Nockerln, yes it is spelled that way, or if you dare Kaiserschmarrn, usually Kaiserschmarrn is a meal in itself. Wien (Vienna) is really nice, but pretty far in the east of Autria and if you expect mountains, no not there, they are further in the west.

Have a good trip.
