I am told my ancestors came from what was Prussia and that Lehne was one of minor royalty.

I don't think that the name Lehne (if originally spelled this way) is truly that common. Common names in Germany are Schulze or Mueller (with the Umlaut). Prussia in German is called Preu脽en and was once one of the larger 'kingdoms' before Germany became one state. Prussia was in the north east of the country and surrounded Berlin
