Is it really bad to go to Nassau Bahamas at the end of August because of Hurricane season? |
Travel Info I know there's no way of knowing but I'm planning on going to Nassau the last week of August. I was ready to book but now I'm nervous about the threat of a hurricane. I can deal with the on and off again rain but should I chance it or forget it? Travel Tips I live in Florida so I am very familiar with hurricanes thanks to a very active 2004-05. Well, last year wasn't too active here (close enough to the Bahamas) due to El Nino pushing storms away from us...since El nino isn't here this year they are saying it should be an active season but if there is one thing you must know about these predictions is that they don't really mean much...who really knows! If you have an opportunity to purchase trip insurance it may be worth the investment just in case. The end of August is right smack dab in the middle of the season and IF it is active this year then you will be rolling the dice. All of us in Florida will be praying that there won't be any hurricanes, so at least you got that on your side!! Others It's hit or miss, but you could check out a weather website and see what the chances are of a storm coming in during any particular week. You are probably safe. Go for it! Just buy travel insurance. If there is a hurricane, get your money back and reshedule for later. You can usually pick up insurance for like $50. It's good protection for your trip investment. |
