Which island in the Bahamas? |
Travel Info Which island is best to just relax and chill out where there are lovely beaches to just swim and snorkel and sunbathe? And also not priced at the high end but reasonable. Travel Tips One of the most beautiful beaches in the world is the pink sand of Harbour Island right next to Eleuthera. There are lots of houses on Eleuthera to rent and you'd likely never see anyone on your beach. Very very laid back but super friendly people. Harbour Island is a little fancier but a gorgeous beach and more hotels. If you go to Eleuthera and rent a house the bread is to die for sold in houses mostly. Lady in Governers Harbour bakes bread and her husband sells pineapples to the royal family when they are on Windemere Island. She is very simple and sweet but she got to go to Princess Di's and Charles Wedding and has photos and pictures that are pretty cool. There is a good grocery store in Rock Sound that has almost everything. We go every year and just take a cooler full of steaks and lunchmeat and things like that. Just check it with your luggage. But you can find lots of houses on the internet typing in "bahamas house rentals" and clicking on the islands. No people, soft pink sand beaches and friendly people. Nassau and Grand Bahama are for cruise ships and gambling. Avoid both like the plague unless that is your thing. Others Try Atlantis or Nassau They're all nice. I have been to three of the islands thus far. I much preferred Paradise Island/Nassau. You will find great all inclusive packages. I did not care much for the Grand Bahamas Island, it was kind of expensive and not really too much going on. Been to the area 5 times! ABACO Abaco, Exuma, Don't go to Nassau. They jumped on us like we were rich or something. Lots of tourists. I say that the farther out islands are your best bet. Cat Island or such. |
