Been to the bahamas?

Travel Info
I'm going this summer, and I'm wondering if maybe anyone has been there? I'm hoping that I could get some info on Paradise island and Nassau.
thanks!

Travel Tips
Yep. My favorite place to stay is at the Atlantis. It is a very nice resort. It's a beautiful area and the resort compliments it well. It's a very nice relaxing vacation. I think I like Paradise Island more than Nassau, but they are both great, it kind of depends on what you are looking for.

Be sure to bring a camera and sun screen, and don't forget some money ;-)

I have been there twice and going back in April. The first time was 12 years ago and I was not impressed. But, I went back 5 years ago and it had changed tremendously. Nassau and the docks were much cleaner and safer looking. Paradise Island was newly opened and very nice. I understand the aquarium is fantastic, watched a show about Paradise Island on the Travel Channel. In Nassau, my wife likes to go to Ardesta Gardens which is like a zoo/botanical garden combination. She likes the Marching Flamingo show they do there. I also noticed Paradise Island has some good fishing and boat excursions. I think they are doing a great job building their country as a prime attraction for vacationers and cruise destinations and am interested in seeing how they have changed in the last 5 years.
I agree with tech fanatic. I have some pictures from Atlantis if you want to see what the property is like.
The Bahamas is absolutely splendid. The Atlantis is truely your best bet. You'll enjoy it there, it's gorgeous.
I had the luck of living there while I was in highschool. I visit Nassau every other year. What do you want to do while there? If you want to sit on the beach with drinks and not be too involved in the local life, then stay at an all-inclusive like Sandals or Beaches. I've stayed at Beaches and really enjoyed it. They offer a good amount of variety of food and activities, including a good quality of some of the local meals like conch fritters, and chicken souse (spicy chicken soup).
If you want to see the more of the island, you can visit Ardastra Gardens, Fort Charlotte, and Arawak Cay. Fort Charlotte is the largest of three forts in Nassau and has one of the best views of Nassau Harbour. Arawak Cay is a small "island" just off Nassau with a bunch of small vendors and restaurants offering local food. Go to Goldi's and have their cracked conch or conch salad. It is the best on the island. You can also visit the Queen's staircase, stairs carved out of limestone by slaves back in 1793.
If you like historical museums, visit the Bahamas Historical Society Museum ($1 admission) or the Pompey Museum which used to function as a marketplace and where slaves were sold. There is also the straw market which has a lot of locally made crafts you can buy for souvenirs. Just be careful buying some of the clothing - they may not made or dyed locally.
As for Paradise Island, there is Atlantis to stay at and visit. There are a lot of upscale shops, and there is also a place called the Cloisters. This is the remains of a 14th century French Monastery that William Randolph Hearst imported to the island in the 1920's. It makes for some stunning pictures.
Personal expereince - lived there. visited many times.
