I am going to Atlantis in the Bahamas in Feb. and staying at Harbor Side Resort.? |
Travel Info This is the units with full kitchens. Is it better to try and buy food on Paradise Island and cook or buy the meal plan? I am concerned about the cost and transportation of groceries vs just paying $60.00 a day per person for 3 days. ($360.00 total). Does anyone have firsthand experience with cooking at Harbor Side? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Travel Tips I have been going to Atlantis for over 3 years now...and I go 3 times a year. Harbor side is great, the kitchen idea is great. But the closest grocery store is a 15-20 min taxis ride away and the prices in the grocery store aren't much better than on propery. You'll pay $2.50 for a bottled water instead of $3.00 on property. Now if you want to shop where the locals shop...good luck! You are better off getting a meal plan and eating at the buffets, because you will get your money's worth. Good luck and if you can or want to go swimming with the dolphins it will be well worth your money and a memory to last a life time, plus you go by Oprah's and Michael Jordans house! Others I don't know that much about the food at Harbor Side, but I would pay for the food there so I wouldn't have to leave the resort in the evening. Atlantis is beautiful, but unfortunately the surrounding area is dangerous. I wouldn't advise walking around at night outside of the resort. Also, watch for pick pocketers in the nearby shopping district even during the day. The cruise ships park not that far away from Atlantis and the passengers all shop in the nearby shopping district when they are in port, it is a petty thiefs dream. Stay Alert. Can I come too? |
