Closer to Mysore is Srirangapatnam, its old capital. Here you can visit the Island Fortress, Dariya Daulat and the Gumbaz. Silk and sandalwood, palaces and temples鈥?that鈥檚 Mysore. Visit the elegant Maharaja鈥檚 Palace and see the finest example of Hoysala carvings. Pause at the St. Philomena鈥檚 Church, splendid in its Gothic Architecture, and browse through the Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery. As the sun sets, visit Brindavan 鈥?the fairyland of gardens 鈥?and the magic of its musical fountains and coloured lights.
