Do you have to have a Visa also when traveling to UK with one way ticket? |
Travel Info Do you have to have a Visa also when traveling to UK with one way ticket? This is all so hard for me! I have never travel outside US before and I went to Post office got my passport application, now I hear you cant fly one way because there is no proof that I will leave country within 90 days. I bought one way because my friend there will be buying my return ticket later. It was due to limited income. I am going there to help with his health problems. Please help me to understand! Thank you! Travel Tips First of all, because of terrorist activities, of course no one will allow you to travel now-a-days without a round trip ticket (unless, of course, you're a citizen of the country you're traveling within); If your friend has bought you another ticket showing the return back, then have him overnight express mail it to you so you have proof of departure; that should do it...Plus, as an afterthought...Don't you realize that a one-way ticket indicates the possibility of terrorist activity? I mean, if they're planning to do something, why pay for a round trip? Don't end up in some "jail" because you're not thinking properly! Others Depends where you're from, but even visa-waiver countries technically require proof of onward travel. For US passport holders, they get 180 days to play tourist in the UK without any additional visas necessary. Check the facts here: http://www.delta.com/planning_reservatio... hello , if you want to come to UK you must have your papers and this paper upon on your friend you cant take visa one way if your visa not for tow years any way this site will help you... http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/servlet/front?... As said before... You may very well be refused entry to the UK if you cannot prove that you will be leaving, like having a return ticket, and that you have enough money to support yourself whilst you are here... If you intend to enter the UK as a visitor (a tourist, someone without a visa pre-arranged from a British consular office in the USA), then you have to satisfy the immigration agent at your arrival airport in the UK that you are a genuine visitor only. If they suspect you intend to stay in the UK they will refuse you entry and put you on the first flight back to the USA (which you will likely have to pay full price for). That said, you don't *NEED* a round-trip ticket. You simply need to prove to them that you're genuine. If your friend in the UK has bought you a return ticket, you need to have proof of that (booking reference, flight dates/times, etc - not the actual ticket). If you're going to but haven't purchased it yet, at least have details showing your progress. Make sure you have enough proof with you (in hand luggage on the plane!!) to show that you intend to be back home in the USA in 6 months - details of mortgage, job, family, etc - and nothing that would make them suspect you intend to stay in the UK.
