Travel Info I'm travelling to Belgium this summer..particularly Osteand...any advice? Travel Tips Best things about Belgium? Mussels and chips, beer (particularly Kreik, a sour cherry-flavoured beer) and chocolate are the best things on the menu. They really appreciate it if you learn even a little of one of the two languages; French or Flemish (very similar to Dutch). There is a linguistic divide - a native speaker of Flemish may rather speak to you in English than in French, and vice versa. Brussels / Bruxelles / Brussel is bilingual, but Flemish predominates in Oostende / Ostend. Public transport is efficient, so driving and parking in the crowded cities can be avoided. There is a tram running almost the whole length of the coast . Can't think of anything useful you might need that couldn't be found there. Lonely Planet have a guidebook to Belgium and one for Brussels, Bruges and Antwerp. Both are very informative. Happy hols Source(s): travel experiences Other Travel Tips I lived in Belgium for 3 years and loved it. Do you have reservations? What type of things do you like to do? Here are a couple links to check out. Make sure you have your passport and the number to the embassy with you. Have fun. http://www.cn-turkey.com/world-wide-hote... http://www.visitbelgium.com/ http://www.ukstudentlife.com/travel/tour... I live in Belgium and I suggest you visit Brugge! |
