Travel Info I have just flown to Belgium and back a lot of the passengers went through customs just waving thier id cards,I felt victimised as UK nationals have to stop and have thier passports checked,At the airport I think they use us poor Brits as a game like spot the idiot,Im all for security but are we right to feel victimised just because we do not have id cards. Travel Tips The UK did not sign up to the Schengen Agreement whereas Belgium did. Those countries that did sign up to the Schengen Agreement allow people from these countries to travel within the Schengen Zone without passports. They only require valid id, which most people take to mean photo id that can be traced back to their home (e.g. driving licence, photo bank card). UK citizens need a passport. Others I know this is weird, but i'm pretty sure I was stood just behind you during all of this. I was the guy in the leather jacket... were you they guy in front of me? dont want id cards..... I thought the only ID needed in this country was a passport. I use mine for everthing. Hmm? Wot!!! and me a national of the good ol' EU!!!! When your father, or maybe grandfather and their buddies were in Belgium chasing the Germans out, they didn't have to show IDs to the Belgian customs people. I wonder if Germans have to go through customs there. I used to go in " waving my ID card " because I was Belgian . Now I have an American passport , so things are different , I have to show them my passport " waving " doesn't work anymore . |
