Christmas Market Brugge? |
Travel Info Has anyone been to Brugge for the xmas markets and did you have a good time. Can you recommend a nice place to dine in the evening. What is the must do while im there. Travel Tips Yes, went several years ago with a group of ladies, had a wonderful weekend, its a charming place, lots to see, take a trip on the canal, very pretty, loads of pretty shops and churches. People there are very friendly most speak English, luckily! Buy some lace, and chocolates, loads of nice places to eat, go up the Bell Tower in the Square, lovely views. But do be careful NOT TO GET LOST, easily done! Cobble stone streets hard to run to catch coach home! Market is great, they even gift wrap your gifts for you free, well they did then! Have a great time! Others Haven't been to Brugge but spent time in Antwerp which is fab. They also have a Xmas market and regular ones at the weekend where you can buy anything from flowers and food to not quite stylish clothes and livestock! Most shops are shut on a Sunday and Monday is practically dead. They have a smallish icerink near the Grote Markt at Xmas and some very good choccie shops including one selling very 'erotic' shaped chocolates!!! The Horta restaurant near to the theatre is very good and there is an excellent jazz bar just near the cathedral. I know you were asking about Brugge but I was very impressed with Antwerp and hope you will change your mind and go there instead. Been to Bruges Chrstmas market, it is really lovely. Try the chips with different sauces, and go up the church tower for good views (no lifts though). In the centre is an ice rink and you can buy mulled wine. The sweet shops are worth a visit for your choccies. |
