Bruge or Brussels, which do u advise me to visit? |
Travel Info I want to vist belgium, unfortunately I have limited time( 1day) so I'll not be able to move around the cities. Brussels is the capital but I was told Bruggeis a nice city. Which do you advise I visit? Travel Tips Brugge is cool for its windy little streets with buildings leaning in on either side, I found it to have a distinctly 'medieval' feel that I liked quite a lot - it also felt very much 'doable' in a day or two, whereas Brussels to me felt like a place in which I'd need to spend a bit more time. I don't really think you can go wrong with either one but if I had to vote, I'd go with Brugge. For what it's worth, here's the 'official website' for Brugge, it's got info about its sites and museums; since we all look for different things in our touristing you'd probably be best off giving it a look-see and deciding for yourself if it seems like a place you'd enjoy: http://www.brugge.be/internet/en/index.h... And heck, in the interest of parity: http://www.brussels.org/ ;) Have a great time, whichever city you choose =) Others old bruge is more like a village, it is the nicest walking town in europe .full of charm and serenity , so peaceful and beautiful. it is a pleasant way to spend the day,but on the other hand brussels offer a bit more sightseeing aand shopping opportunities and glimpse into belgium lifestyles in a capital city, now the toss up to chose is in your lap I went to Brussels for the day (I was on a cruise) and was able to see chocolate being made in a small candy shop there in the town that has been there for a long time (I think they said since the 20s). It has cobblestone streets, and just a really neat atmosphere. Lots of old buildings, and if i'm thinking right, it even had a castle there. They are also known for their lace and I was able to get some for my grandmother which she loved. Good luck with what you decide. =) Brugge is very beautiful . You will love it . Go to www.brugge.be That will give you good information . I'm a Belgian . I live in Brussels and often take visitors here and to Brugge. Without a doubt go to Brugge. - Brussels is like any other city..with the exception of a large square (grand place) and small statue of a peeing boy.. and EU institutions, which, unless you have pre booked an appointment you won't be able to get into. - Brugges is a fabulous break, is slightly cheaper, it's cleaner and has water running through it. - It is often colder than Brussels but there is a great countryside feel. Every shop you get in brussels, you also find in Brugges, and you are very welcome speaking English there, French isn't tolerated that widely. - There are great restaurants and a real olde worlde feel. - Brugges. - Gent is also an option and you can get there in 40 minutes on a train from Brussels. - Gent is a little of Brussels (in terms of more street culture, bars and things) and a little of Brugges ( the prettyness and the water.) Very difficult, indeed. Bruges is a small, old wonderful city, you'll be able to see in one day. But Brussels is a big city, a single day will be not enough to see it all. However, I'll suggest Brussels just for the Grand Place (amazing place) and the streets around it. Don't forget Manneken Piss (the statue of a little boy-it's a legend about it) and, why not, "la Mort Subite", a pub where you can find 500 sorts of beer. |
