Home-stay programme in Belgium. Can anyone pls tell me more about Belgium?

Travel Info
Im planning to go for a home-stay programme but yet to decidce which country to attend. Currently Belgium is 1st on my list. I would like to know more about home-stay there. The people, food, culture, environment and weather. Thanks.

Travel Tips
People: If you are going to Brussels, its a very diverse place, people from all over Europe (because of the European Union and NATO headquarters being there). If you go to the North you'll find that most people speak a form of Dutch called Flemish although in the major cities people often speak English. To the South it is French speaking.
Food: GOOD FOOD....especially if you like your seafood. Also good chocolate, and beers. Belgians generally like to eat good hearty healthy meals...
Culture: its a real blend, seeing as Belgium is wedged between France, Holland and Germany you get influences from all three. A lot of history here and beatiful architecture...I would recommend visiting Bruges if you get a chance, as well as going wandering around the heart of Brussels.

Weather: Winter is wet, cold and in the last few days its been snowing. Summer can be nice, though it can also rain quite a bit. In mid-summer the highs are around 30 deg C.

Environment: to the North you have coastline, also more industry. To the south you enter Forest land (think miniature Canada) a great place for hiking is the region of Bouillon.

Theres lots more to tell, but this is a good starting point I think...

Others
First of all think very well before you come over here.
Good:Food & drinks(the best beers in the world!) and ofcourse the chocolates!
Good:arts & antiques the best museums are here in Antwerp about 80!
Bad:Weather: Bad, bad & bad means we had a too hot summer and for the moment a very cold winter it's even snowing for the moment.
Bad: not a good place to life here a country full of corruption from notary's till gouvernement, if you don't believe me see the news everyday there scandals.
Comment to Ron:
The coastline is not ugly and very popular we have white sand here and NOT all people are drunk all the time know what your talking about!
I'm born & living in this ...country and will immigrate to a other says enough is it not?
It depends on where in Belgium you want to go. In the north of the country, you have some nice cities like Antwerp, Gent and Bruges. In the south, cities are less interesting, but there you can find beautifull nature.

Positive things about Belgium:
- very diverse
- beautifull cities, which combine a rich culture with a modern lifestyle.
- Very good restaurants and food in general
- in the cities, the nightlife is far more attractive than in the neighbouring countries.
-Belgium is not the cheapest country of Europe but life isn't as expensive as e.g. in France or Italy
- People in Belgium mostly speak 4 or 5 languages, including English.
- Belgium is in the heart of Europe, you can easily visite other intresting places like Paris or London.

negative things
- the weather: altough the winters are smooth, the rest of the year it rains a lot. Sometimes there is a very hot summer, but in some years the summer really sucks.
- people are very closed, you should invest some energy to learn to know someone better.
- Girls can be mean bitches over here.
- people are drunk whole the time in Belgium, but less agressive than the English or the Dutch.
- the coast is really ugly, but in summer there's a good atmosphere.
